The Trager Approach

Peace Beyond Relaxation

What is The Trager Approach?

Gentle Movement. Deep Peace. Lasting change.

The Trager® Approach offers a gentle and powerful way to reconnect with your body, release what no longer serves you, and move through life with greater ease and vitality. Developed by Dr. Milton Trager, this approach is based on decades of exploration in movement, neuroscience, and medical practice. It taps into the body’s natural capacity for neuroplasticity — the brain’s ability to rewire itself — and guides it toward long-term transformation.

Unlike massage or traditional bodywork, Trager doesn’t work on the muscles — it works with the nervous system. Through soft, natural mobilizations and respectful, non-invasive touch, Trager helps your brain recognize what effortless, pain-free movement can feel like — and begin to adopt it as the new normal.

Through gentle and mindful movements and touch, your body is invited to unwind, your mind to settle, and new, healthier movement patterns to take root.

" There is no such thing as a tight muscle, only a tight mind "

Why the Trager Approach is unique

  • Non-invasive, respectful, and deeply effective
✔ Works with the nervous system, not against it
✔ Creates real, long-term change without force
✔ Fosters a sense of joyful embodiment and wholeness
Suitable for people of all ages and mobility levels

Why it works

  • Many physical tension patterns are actually old survival responses — the body’s way of protecting us from stress or past trauma. Even when those events have passed, the tension can remain hardwired into our movement and posture.

Trager helps your nervous system recognize safety again, inviting it to let go of outdated patterns. With every gentle suggestion, the brain learns new options for movement — and begins to build lasting, positive change through repetition and awareness.

What to expect from a Trager Session

Your journey begins with a free phone consultation. This is a chance for us to connect, for you to share what you looking to address, and to go over any questions you may have.

The session itself lasts 60-90 minutes and takes place in a quiet, professional setting.

You can remain comfortably clothed as you lie on a padded table in a quiet, supportive environment. You don’t need to “do” anything.

Using gentle rocking, elongation, and soft compressions, your body is guided through safe, non-habitual movements. These subtle inputs provide the nervous system with new information — inviting it to release unnecessary tension and organize around greater freedom and ease.

There is no force or manipulation. Instead, the session is shaped by mindful presence — a quality of deep listening and attunement at the heart of the approach.

This intentional state fosters trust, safety, and openness — essential conditions for neuromuscular change.

Trager doesn’t just feel good in the moment — it changes how your body moves, feels, and responds to life.

The effects can be profound....

What does it feel like?

  • Many clients describe it as “being moved like a wave” or “a dancing cloud.” — deeply peaceful and revitalizing at the same time. It’s a gentle reminder that movement can be joyful again – and that ease is something your body remembers. Often clients report feeling more grounded and steady, more free, and more connected to themselves starting with the very first session.

.... like basking in a vast ocean of pleasantness...

.... being moved like a wave...

.... a dancing cloud...

The sessions have been amazing – I can move better than I have in years, and without pain!
